How much does it cost?
The event is FREE! Thanks to generous gifts & volunteers!
What are the tours like?
Guided tours start anytime between 8:00 am and 11:00 am, leave every 10-15 minutes, are 30-50 minutes long depending on group interests/needs, and cover about a 1/4 mile with the option to go further independently. Upon arrival, you can enjoy booths & activities and depart on a guided tour. You may depart & return to your tour as needed, or go on a self-guided tour using our identification guide. Tours have 1-2 guides sharing about flowers, pollinators, local ecology, & more!
What do you mean by ‘accessible’ tours?
Tours are on an ADA-compliant trail surface suitable for all mobility devices, and an adult & child all-terrain wheelchair is available upon request. There is a wheelchair-accessible picnic area & portable restroom on site. Tour pacing & movement can be adjusted. We have visual magnification tools, color blind corrective glasses, voice amplification devices, noise reduction devices, grip assists, mobile AAC cards, and more. Spanish translation or additional accessibility modifications are available upon request.
It’s summer – What about heat, shade, & water?
We recommend bringing a personal water bottle and sun protection (sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, sun clothes, etc.). There is a drinking fountain & spigot on site. There is intermittent shade & sun along the tour, and shaded seating areas available as needed. The earlier you arrive, the cooler the weather.
Are there bathrooms?
Yes. There are two portable restrooms on site, one is wheelchair accessible.
What is the parking situation?
There are several spots (one accessible) at the Community Nature Center and along the road, as well as a large parking lot across the street at Granite Mountain School.
