The Moon Bears Witness

Every sighted human being alive, or who has ever lived, has witnessed the moon in the night sky. The moon has been personified, deified, and viewed as a protector, a guardian, the source of life, and a cause of madness. In many of the works in this exhibition the moon bears witness to humankind’s degradation of the earth’s capacity to sustain life. The moon is firm in its relationship with its planet, and neither really cares whether humans exist. It can’t save us, no matter what powers we might give it.
