Copper

14” x 14” x 14” each

The copper mining industry in Jerome, Arizona left behind a blighted landscape and polluted waters.  When the ore ran out Jerome became a ghost town.  Eventually artists moved in and started using the very metals that were extracted to make sculpture and jewelry.

As a sculptor using copper as my primary medium I have come to recognize how the country as a whole has both suffered and benefited from the mining industry.  So in some small way I would like to think that the creative use of these materials is a way of giving back.
